Sheila hails hike in fund allocation
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday welcomed the move of Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee to approve the Phase 3 extension of Delhi Metro. She also said that the city government would get more in Central plan assistance.
“As per Union Budget 2011-12 presented in Parliament on Monday, Delhi is bound to get more Central Plan Assistance as compared to last year. Delhi will be getting Central Plan Assistance of `12,57.86 crores during 2011-12 against `1,080.51 crores released during 2010-11. It is going to be an increase of `177.35 crore, which reflects an increase of 16.41 per cent,” the CMO said in a statement.
Ms Dikshit said that she was happy that Metro’s Phase 3 had been given approval. She also welcomed the enhanced remuneration of `3,000 a month to Aanganwadi workers against `1500 earlier.
The government said that the special grant under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Delhi would get `206 crores more in the next financial. “The normal assistance will see a rise of `23 crores, while under Central Road Fund the increase is `6.73 crores,” the CMO said.
This year, `252.70 crores have been earmarked under normal central assistance, up from `229.72 crores last year.
“Delhi will get `65.13 crores under Central Road Fund against `58.40 crores last year. Under JNNURM, `900 crores have been earmarked for Delhi against `694.47 crores in the last fiscal,” said the CM’s office. Under three heads of JNNURM, there has been an increase under submission of Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) which has risen from `184.47 crores to `390 crores. Under the head of submission on Urban Infrastructure and Governance, the assistance remains static at `500 crores, and under Rajiv Awas Yojana too it remains unchanged at `10 crores.
