Senior citizen couple robbed

A senior citizen couple, who are relatives of a senior Delhi police official now posted in the Intelligence Bureau, were robbed of cash and other belongings by their domestic help, a 20-year-old man, who escaped with the booty after serving them drug-laced food. The incident was reported from Vikaspuri in west Delhi on Saturday morning.
The incident came to light when the senior citizen couple was found unconscious by one of their acquaintances on Friday morning. The victims Mr N.R. Dogra, 65, and his wife have been admitted to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital.
According to the police, the incident took place in late hours of January 27. “The domestic help gave the elderly couple sedatives in their dinner and robbed their valuables worth over `20 lakhs,” said the police.
The investigating police officers also confirmed that a sharp knife and a liquor bottle were recovered from the room of the domestic help.
“It seems that the domestic help had plans to physically assault the couple if they had not fainted,” said the officers.
The couple was found unconscious by a neighbour who informed the police. Mr Dogra and his wife were rushed to a hospital where they still are admitted. Their condition is said to be stable, said the police.
Police officers added that Mr Dogra’s son and his wife were in Jammu to attend a wedding.
