School principal is hacked to death
A 59-year-old school principal was found hacked to death in his east Delhi residence on Tuesday afternoon with the police suspecting the involvement of his domestic help who has gone missing after the incident.
Police officials said that the deceased Jagan Singh Chauhan was found lying in a pool of blood at around 1.30 pm on Tuesday in the first floor flat in R-block of east Vinod Nagar by the staff of Sanjay Memorial Public School.
The staff immediately raised an alarm and called up the police control room. A team of cops arrived on the spot and Chauhan was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The police is suspecting the involvement of Chauhan’s domestic help, identified as Hira Kumar, in the incident.
Hira has been working at Chauhan’s residence for the past one year.
“Chauhan’s body bore multiple stab injuries inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon. Two almirahs in the house were found ransacked. During the search operation, no cash or jewellery was found in the house. We have collected fingerprints from the scene of crime and a police team is working to nab Hira who is absconding,” a police source said.
The deceased had set up the school in 1983 after getting divorced and he was working as its principal.
“We have got some leads in the case and the investigation is on. The crime scene was examined by forensic experts for possible evidence and a case has been registered against unknown persons at the east Vinod Nagar police station,” additional DCP, (east) I.B. Rani said. Chauhan had retired as an engineer with DDA in 1983 and was a native of Mamura in Noida.
