Rush at DU counters with 2 days to go

The Delhi University witnessed overwhelming rush of applicants at counters across the varsity to submit the OMR admission forms with just two days remaining for the last date. The sale of forms for disabled students also increased by 20 per cent.
The university received more than a lakh OMR forms on Monday, from general, ST, SC, PWD, OBC category students.
More applicants visited the counters to submit the admission forms, which they had purchased few days ago.
However, many applicants could not submit their forms on Monday as they reached late due to rains and traffic jams in various parts of the city.
“More than 800 forms of applicants with disabilities have been received by the university, which is a 20 per cent rise compared to last year. Last year, a total of 650 online and offline forms were submitted by disabled. In all, 1,02,406 forms have been submitted across all categories till now. The total forms sold has risen to 1,53,041 and total online forms submitted (paid) is 89,573.

Man arrested for crude oil pilferage

The police has arrested a man in connection with the crude oil theft cases that took place in Haryana and Rajasthan. The accused told the police that he was involved in nine such cases.
Acting on a tip-off that Leela Dhar, who is wanted in various cases of oil pilferage, is living in Nihal Vihar him, the police conducted and arrested him.
“During interrogation, Dhar revealed that about 4-5 years back he came in contact with some persons involved in theft of crude oil from a pipeline passing through Haryana and Rajasthan,” said the police official.
The official further said the accused started providing his oil tanker for transportation of the crude oil stolen from the pipeline. “His three tankers were seized by the Rajasthan police and he was a proclaimed offender in these cases,” said the police official.
