Roommate unaware of weapons, tiff
A day after JNU student Akash allegedly committed suicide after attacking his female classmate in the classroom, the police on Thursday recorded statements of several students and professors.
Akash’s body was handed over to his family members after its post-mortem was conducted at AIIMS on Thursday. The family took the body to Gaya, Bihar, for the last rites.
A senior police official said that the four-page suicide note that was recovered from Akash’s bag has been sent to the CFSL lab for examination.
The official said that Akash’s roommate said in his statement that he did not know from where the former procured the weapons. He said he also did not know that Akash was having a tiff with Roshni.
Meanwhile, Sudhir Gupta, the brother of Roshni, said that his sister was never in a relationship with Akash.
“My sister was never in a relationship with the boy. But he was hell bent on having a relationship with her,” he said.
“He (Akash) proposed to my sister several times but she refused every time, that might have triggered him to attack her and kill himself. My sister is very intelligent. She is a laborious student and obtained good marks in last year’s annual examination. She wants to study further,” said Sudhir.
Roshni Gupta, the youngest daughter of a Muzaffarpur-based businessman, came for higher studies to JNU in the city after Class 12.
