Robbers strike at jewellery shop in Mayapuri market
Two separate incidents of robbery were reported from the national capital in the last 24 hours.
In the first incident, eight masked men allegedly barged into a jewellery shop in Mayapuri area and held the staff hostage before decamping with jewellery worth Rs 20 lakhs.
The incident took place in Mayapuri at around 8.30 pm on Sunday. Sources said the armed men barged into Jagdamba Jewellers in Nangal Raya Market and held the staff at gunpoint. “Four robbers went into the shop while four others kept a vigil outside. They robbed jewellery worth Rs 20 lakhs and fired in air to scare people before making their way out of the area on motorcycles,” a senior police official said.
In another incident, armed men barged into a residence in Yamuna Vihar and decamped with cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees on Monday. The victim D.P. Aggarwal said that four armed men barged into his house on Sunday night and took away cash and jewellery worth Rs five lakhs.
