RAW ex-official suffers from paranoia, say docs
Former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) officer Nisha Priya Bhatia, who partially stripped in the courtroom, is not suffering from any serious psychiatric ailment, a panel of doctors from the Institute of Human Behaviours and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) told the Delhi high court on Monday.
The doctors said, Ms Bhatia showed normal behaviour and no evidence was found that she suffered from any serious mental problem.
They, however, said she was suffering from “litigious paranoia”, a form of disorder in which one is inclined to initiate lawsuits.
They also said it seemed that there was something wrong with her thought process as she was more inclined to negative thinking. Justice Ajit Bharihoke issued a notice to Ms Bhatia for her appearance in the court on March 28.
Bhatia, in her 40s, had created a ruckus in the courtroom after the hearing on her petition against some judicial officers was adjourned. She stripped inside the courtroom, which prompted the judge to order her to be taken for a mental check-up.
Terming the act as “highly deplorable”, Justice Bharihoke had said that it gave an impression that she was not mentally sound.
She had earlier accused her boss, former RAW secretary, Ashok Chaturvedi, of sexual harassment.
