Rani Bagh murder case cracked, 1 held
The police has arrested a businessman who allegedly hired a contract killer to kill a 67-year-old man from whom he had taken loan on interest. The victim was shot dead by the contract killer in Rani Bagh, outer Delhi, on August 19.
The accused Yogesh Gupta has been arrested while the contract killer Ram Roop is absconding, a senior police official said.
The deceased Jay Narayan Gupta, a retired employee, used to deal in brassware and loaned money on interest.
The accused Yogesh who is in construction business, had taken a loan of `25 lakhs from Jay Narayan.
Yogesh was unable to repay the loan which increased to `35 lakhs with interest accrual.
“Jay Narayan was pressurising him to repay the loan. Yogesh sought help from his maternal uncle Mone who introduced him to Ram Roop and a deal was struck,” said a police source.
The police examined the CCTV footage and identified Ram Roop who is involved in many other crime cases. Yogesh broke down and confessed his involvement on being was interrogated.
“On August 19, at around 8 pm, Jay Narayan was shot dead in the shop,” said the police source.
Meanwhile, the crime branch has arrested a man for his alleged involvement in several criminal cases.
A senior police official said that the accused was identified as Javed Qureshi. The police said they got a tip off about Qureshi coming near Gagan Cinema in Nand Nagri area to meet his associates. A trap was laid and Qureshi was nabbed.
