Rains lash city, more to follow
Delhi reeled under traffic jams after heavy rains lashed the city on Sunday morning leading to waterlogging at various places. The weather department has predicted more rains in the coming days due to western disturbance.
Heavy rains lashed the city since early morning on Sunday. The Met department stated that Delhi got 36.4 mm till 8.30 am, while another 10.8 mm was added during the day till 5.30 pm. Heavy rains brought down the temperature to below 30 degree Celsius, with the maximum recorded at 29.2 degree Celsius, five degrees below normal, while the minimum was 24.5 degrees at one degree below normal. However, humidity was recorded high and remained in the range of 83 and 98 per cent.
Delhi’s rush with completion of Commonwealth Games projects is further likely to face hurdles due to rains.
The Met department said in its weekly forecast that heavy rains are likely to continue in northern India, including Delhi, for some more days.
Meanwhile, the MCD on Sunday stated that it would be launching cleanliness drive in the capital in the wake of the dengue outbreak going out of control.

Man killed as truck hits motorcycle

A 35-year-old man was killed and another injured in Sarai Kale Khan area of south east Delhi when a speeding truck hit their motorcycle on Saturday evening.
The incident took place at Sarai Kale Khan at around 10 pm and the deceased has been identified as Rajender, said police officials. The police said Rajender was returning to his Faridabad home with his friend Ramesh when a speeding truck hit their motorcycle from behind. The driver of the truck escaped.
