Rains lash city, hit traffic hard
Intermittent rains brought down the temperature in the city to below normal on Friday. The capital received 6.9 mm of rains between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.
The maximum temperature dropped by two notches and settled at 32 degrees Celsius, said the met department. The humidity level oscillated between 75 and 91 per cent.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.3° Celsius, normal for this time of the season.
However, commuters had a harrowing time in the city as waterlogging caused traffic snarls at major traffic junctions. Long queues of vehicles were seen at Laxminagar, ITO, Kashmere Gate, Munirka, Dwarka and Dhaula Kuan during morning rush hour when people go to offices and children to school.
Traffic movement was hit at Andrews Ganj flyover after a DTC bus broke down.
The flow of traffic was slow from Delhi Gate chowk towards Bahadur Shah Zafar Road and Jawaharlal Nehru Road towards Bahadur Shah Zafar Road in front of Ambedkar Stadium due to DMRC work.
After a long dry spell, rains made a comeback in the city on Tuesday.
The meteorological department has predicted a cloudy sky for Saturday with possibility of light rain showers or thundershowers in some areas.
The maximum and the minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35° Celsius and 27° Celsius, respectively.
