Rains cool city, more predicted
Intermittent but continuous rains, more of a pitter patter in many areas since Wednesday night, brought the temperature down by more than four degrees on Thursday. The weatherman has forecast rain or thunder showers on Friday too.
According to the weatherman, the city received 3.7 mm of rain, which began overnight, till 5.30 pm on Thursday. The surrounding areas of Delhi, like Ghaziabad and Noida, also experienced more than 1 mm of rainfall on an average. The current spell has been attributed to western disturbances.
The office-goers had to face traffic snarls at some places. Delhi traffic police officials said that snarls were reported from Jangpura, Nehru Place, Chirag Dilli, Shastri Park and Anand Parbat.
According to the weatherman, the maximum and minimum temperatures in the city were recorded at 20.7º Celsius (six degrees below normal) and 14º Celsius (one degree above normal). On Wednesday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 24.6º Celsius and 12.7º Celsius.
The weatherman attributed the increase in the minimum temperature despite rains to thick cloud cover over the city.
