Raghuvir Yadav to pay `40K alimony
A city court has asked noted actor and TV artist Raghuvir Yadav to pay a monthly alimony of `40,000 to his estranged wife, pointing that successes of his recent movies Peepli Live and Gandhi to Hitler indicate he is doing well in commercial cinema.
“Having regard to the fact that respondent (Yadav) is a renowned actor of art movies, TV serials and theatre and is doing well in commercial cinema after the success of his two latest hits Peepli Live and Gandhi to Hitler, I presume his average monthly income will not be less than `1.25 lakh per month,” metropolitan magistrate Sunena Sharma said, fixing `40,000 as the sum for alimony.
The court directed Yadav to pay interim maintenance of `40,000 per month to his wife from the date of its present order till the pendency of the case.
It also asked him to pay her `20,000 from the date of filing of the petition in 2006 till this order, besides another sum of `20,000 per month for maintenance of his son, who is a minor now, from the date of filing of the petition till he became a major.
The woman had told the court that she married Yadav in Jabalpur in June 1988 but he deserted her in 1995. A Madhya Pradesh court had earlier ordered Yadav to pay alimony but he refused to pay the same, prompting the court to issue a arrest warrant against him.
