Radhika murder suspect picked up
The Delhi police has picked up a suspect believed to be involved in the broad daylight killing of DU student Radhika Tanwar on Tuesday. The accused was earlier stalking the deceased but she had resisted his advances.
Top police sources revealed that the suspect was picked up by the Dhaula Kuan police on Thursday afternoon after the sketch made by the investigators was released on Wednesday resembled the description of the alleged assailant, who used to harass the deceased Radhika Tanwar. Radhika was shot outside the Ramlal Anand College on Tuesday morning while she was on the way to her college.
The investigators are, however, not sure whether the suspect was involved in the case. “The sketch has a 80 per cent match with the face of the suspect. His friends and family have recognised the face. The suspect was picked up by the police and he is being questioned for his involvement in the case,” a source said.
Confirming the detention, joint commissioner of police (south) Amulya Patnaik said, “We have made some progress in the case and the people relevant to the investigations are being called for questioning. So far, it appears to be a case of a one-sided love affair,” he said.
The sources said five friends of the deceased, including two girls, have been questioned so far and they have revealed some “vital” information about the accused stalker. “They have given some relevant information about the stalker who used to harass Radhika earlier. He was also assaulted by three youths of Nariana, who have been questioned earlier,” a senior police official said.
