Prostitution racket busted, kingpin held
The crime branch of the Delhi police has busted an inter-state flesh trade racket whose kingpin, an MBA, was arrested from Shalimar Bagh on Friday.
The police said the accused, Sudhanshu Gupta, 32, who was running an inter-state sex racket, was arrested from Shalimar Bagh on Friday following an anonymous tip-off that he would come to the area to strike a deal.
The accused met a call girl in Delhi during a business trip in 2010 and they decided to start an “escort services” web portal. “Sudhanshu Gupta was running www.indiaescorts.com and developed a network of call girls all over India. The clients entered their requisition through the web portal and he got in touch with the nearest available call girl as per the requirement,” DCP (crime), Ashok Chand said.
The accused has done MBA from Management Institute of Ghaziabad, UP. “He was working with a bank in Delhi as regional manager till 2004 and shifted to share broking later. In 2005, he started his own tour and travels business in Jodhpur, Rajasthan,” DCP Chand said.
“In March this year, a call girl was arrested by Bhopal police from a hotel. She revealed that she was operating through Sudhanshu. The girl was flown from Delhi to Bhopal by Sudhanshu to meet a client’s demand when she fell into the police trap. Investigations revealed that she was asked to deposit `1.48 lakhs in three separate bank accounts which were seized by the Bhopal police,” the DCP said.
