Police arrests 2 auto thieves, gunrunner
The police arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in several cases of vehicle thefts in the city. A countrymade pistol, four motorcycles and a Scooty were recovered from their possession.
A senior police official said the accused were identified as Jitender Kumar and Monu. “They were held from Bakkarwala during vehicle checking. They failed to produce any documents of the motorcycle and were nabbed. They revealed that they had stolen the bike from Nangloi,” said the police official.
Meanwhile, the Central Delhi police arrested a man for allegedly supplying countrymade pistols in the city. Two countrymade pistols and four live cartridges were recovered from them. The accused Praveen Kumar Singh was arrested from Kamla Market area following a tip-off.
“He revealed that he procured the pistols from Sikander and Mehtab of Bihar,” said the police official.
The accused were supplying pistols through a unique modus operandi. “The buyer had to deposit `23,000 in the bank account of Sikander and Mehtab. Once the money was deposited, the firearm was delivered at the address of the buyer,” said the police official.
