PC heads GoM to settle Munak canal dispute
The tussle between Delhi and Haryana over Munak canal is likely to be taken by a group of ministers (GoM), headed by Union home minister P. Chidambaram, as Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit plans to apprise the stand of her government on the issue at the GoM.
The Munak canal has been a bone of contention as the facility has been constructed by Haryana government with financial help from Delhi government on the promise that some share of the water will be supplied to the city. However, Haryana went back on the promise leading to the controversy that has been dogging it for well over a couple of years. The Centre had set up a GoM, headed by Mr Chidambaram, last month for amicable settlement of the issue. Ms Dikshit said that she would soon apprise the GoM of the government’s stand on the issue.
