Pak ‘spy’ held, Army documents seized
The Delhi police arrested a suspected Pakistani spy who was in Delhi for the last one year allegedly doing recce of Army installations. With the arrest, the police has claimed to have seized confidential documents related to Indian Army from his possession.
Sajjad Haider (43) from Lahore was apprehended by a team of Delhi Police’s Special Cell from Samalkha village in southwest Delhi on September 14 on a tip off from Central intelligence agencies, a senior police official said.
He has revealed names of certain persons who facilitated his activities in India, who are being questioned. He was staying in the capital with a fake name Mohd Pervez, said the police. Officers added, “Confiden-tial documents related to Army, a fake Indian driving license, an Indian PAN card, along with Western Union money transfer receipts, rent agreements, mobile SIM cards and phones have been recovered from his rented accommodation in Samalakha.”
The Delhi police’s special cell claims, “The accused has been trained at military trade craft in Lahore by the ISI for five months and was later tasked to conduct recce of Army installations in Punjab to collect information regarding movements of Armed forces.
Police officers added, “The accused had entered India in September last year through Bangladesh.”
“The accused was directed by his handlers to first obtain credible Indian IDs to pass off as an Indian. Thereafter, he went about the task of procuring forged identity proof documents for himself which would facilitate him in making a base for carrying out his mission successfully,” the officials said.
