Overcast sky, rain keep mercury down
An overcast sky and scattered showers kept the mercury below normal in the city on Friday. Light to moderate rains occurred at various places across the capital. Delhi received 11.6 mm rainfall and the humidity oscillated between 47 and 91 per cent.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 38.6 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, but significantly higher than Thursday’s 32.8° Celsius.
Minimum temperature also remained one degree below normal at 26.4° Celsius and 2.4 points up from Thursday’s 28.8° Celsius, the met department said.
The weatherman predicts partly cloudy sky on Saturday with possibility of light rain and thundershowers in some areas. The minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to remain at 36° Celsius and 27° Celsius, respectively.

`50K cash award for cbse class 12 toppers from city
New Delhi, June 14: Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on friday announced a cash award of `50,000 each to 124 meritorious students in the city who have been selected for one-time scholarship of `1lakh by HRD ministry for their performance in CBSE Class 12 exams.
The HRD ministry had last month announced scholarship of `1 lakh each to 200 meritorious students across the country.
“We will give a cash award of `50,000 each to 124 students of Delhi government schools who have found place in the list of 200 meritorious students at national level,” Ms Dikshit said. She was speaking after felicitating students, principals and officials for performance of government schools. — PTI

Teen killed in adarsh nagar

NEW DELHI, JUNE 14
A 16-year-old boy was found murdered in Adarsh Nagar, northwest Delhi, early on Friday. A senior police official said the deceased, identified as Saidul was a vagabond.
“His body was found by patrolling staff. He was hit with a heavy object on his forehead. He was allegedly involved in several crime cases in the area,” said the official.
An FIR of murder has been lodged though no arrests have been made.
