nod to survey of Israeli diplomat’s car
The car of the Israeli diplomat which was bombed on February 13 was on Tuesday allowed by a Delhi court to be inspected by an insurance surveyor to assess damage for reimbursement.
The plea was vehemently opposed by the counsel appearing for Journalist Syed Mohammed Ahmad Kazmi, arrested for his alleged role in bombing of diplomat’s car.
“I am willing to give you `2 lakhs,” said Mr Kazmi’s counsel Mehmood Pracha against the permission sought by the Israeli embassy.
However, chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav granted the permission to inspect the car to assess the damages. The court also ordered for video-recording of the inspection.
While allowing the plea of Alon Yehoshua, the husband of Israeli diplomat Tal Yehoshua, for surveyor to inspect the car and assess its damages, chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav ordered for video-recording of the inspection.
“The applicant (Alon Yehoshua) is allowed to get the vehicle inspected at the malkhana of the special cell with the video-recording and minimum physical intervention to the vehicle,” the court said.
The court also noted that the survey should be done in the presence of investigation officer and between a given time of 3 pm to 5 pm on May 10.
Meanwhile, court also dismissed Mr Kazmi’s plea for certified copies of all applications and orders pertaining to his police custody and judicial custody. The court, while rejecting Mr Kazmi’s plea, said that the said application may not be supplied to the accused as there is a chance of it becoming public.
