The crime branch has begun an extensive analysis of technical intelligence data to narrow down on the suspects involved in the Shobhit Modi murder case.
Top officials of crime branch said that an extensive analysis of the technical data is being done to rule out the role of petty criminals in the murder and to zero in on the suspects.
“We are analysing all call data records from the mobile phone towers around the area where the victim’s body was found. The CCTV footage from some spots is also being examined to ascertain the identity of the suspects involved in the murder,” a senior crime branch official said.
The crime branch sources said the role of local robbers or even “hired assailants” has not been ruled out so far. “The questioning of his friends has not yielded any concrete information. We are focusing on other aspects now. The location of every local criminal at the time of the incident is being investigated separately,” the source said.
Meanwhile, sources in south Delhi police said that some petty criminals belonging to Rangpuri and Kusumpur area have gone missing and the investigators are suspecting that they may be involved in the murder.
The police has so far questioned hundreds of history-sheeters, vendors and the victim’s friends in the case but no arrests have been made so far.
Sources also revealed that the deceased’s new friends are on the radar of investigators and they are being called for questioning. “We suspect that some of his friends are hiding certain aspects of the case,” a senior police official said.
