No changes in seat intake at SRCC
While several colleges of Delhi University are going for seats re-appropriation, including St. Stephen’s College, but there will not be any such change in seats of SRCC after the introduction of four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP).
With the introduction of FYUP from this academic session, the university scrapped all the BA, B.Sc programmes running across different colleges and proposed only honours courses, which created a vacuum and ambiguity over the vacant seats.
Dr P.C. Jain, principal of Shri Ram College of Commerce, said that the introduction of FYUP will not affect the intake of seats in the college. “The college has only two courses; BA Economics (H) with an intake of 123 seats and B.Com (H) with 501 seats. There are no changes in the intake as no course in the college has been scrapped,” he said.
Earlier, the governing body of St. Stephen’s College had proposed to reduce intake of fresh students by 100 when its two BA and B.Sc programmes were scrapped. Each course had 50 seats.
St. Stephen’s principal Dr Valson Thampu said, “The college has decided to redistribute the seats in different courses. Now Economics (H) will have 100 seats against 2012’s 50. Earlier, English (H) had 30 seats which has now been increased to 60,” he said.
