NDMC modifies hiring of teachers
Teachers seeking recruitment in the North Delhi Municipal Corporation schools will now have to clear a mandatory interview, as part of the new recruitment procedure.
The corporation has decided to conduct interviews for the aspiring teachers, in order to assess the verbal communication skills of the applicants. About 18,500 teachers have applied for the job of primary teachers. It is for the first time the civic body has modified the selection procedure. At present the selection is made through the merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Class 10, Class 12 and the JBT. The Education Committee of the North Delhi Corporation had passed a proposal on Tuesday. The proposal shall be soon presented before the Standing Committee and before the House for approval. Following this, the modified recruitment rules will be sent to the DSSSB for incorporating in the rules.
NDMC education committee chairman Ram Kishan Bansiwal said, “It has been observed that the primary schools teachers fulfil the eligibility criteria but lack in verbal communication skills. Teachers should be able to pronounce the words properly and also communicate effectively with young children. It requires psychological skills to entertain and communicate with children in the young age group, particularly those studying in nursery.”
