MMS scare makes girl steal at home

In a strange twist in a case of theft at a house in Chanakyapuri reported last month, it has turned out that the daughter of the complainant had stolen the money from her home to meet the demands of a young neighbour who was threatening to upload her MMS clip on the popular video sharing website YouTube.

The incident came to light after a complaint was lodged by a resident of servant quarters on Satya Marg in Chanakyapuri last month who told the police that thieves had stolen some jewellery and cash from his house.
After conducting the investigations, the police zeroed in on the minor daughter of the victim and she was subjected to questioning.
“The 14-year-old victim disclosed that her father used to sexually abuse her since the last one year. In the meantime, she had a relationship with a neighbouring boy (a minor) who took advantage of her depressed state and made an MMS clip of her which he sold to a 20-year-old youth, identified as Sonu, for `100,” a source revealed.
Sources said Sonu met the 14-year-old girl and showed her the MMS clip. “He threatened to upload the video on YouTube and asked the victim to pay up `50,000 if she didn’t want anyone to know about it. The girl was then forced to steal jewellery and cash from her house by which she managed to raise the money and keep Sonu quiet,” the source disclosed.
After the 14-year-old victim narrated her harrowing tale to the police officials, a case was registered under different sections of sexual harassment, extortion and other sections of Indian Penal Code at the Chanakyapuri police station.
“Both Sonu and the father of the girl have been arrested. Another minor boy, who had made the MMS clip and sold it to Sonu has been handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board,” a senior police official said.
