Missing boy, 4, found murdered in park
A four-year-old boy, who had gone missing from Keshavpuram in northwest Delhi Sunday evening, was found dead on Monday with his throat slit and multiple injuries on his body. The police is suspecting that the victim was sodomised.
The victim, Mohd Afridi, had gone to market with his seven-year-old sister Shabada on Sunday at around 6 pm. The girl was asked by her mother Rubaida, 28, to purchase grocery and she took her brother along.
“While returning from the market, the girl put the boy down from her lap to arrange her bag. As she turned around, Afridi had disappeared. The panic-struck girl rushed home and informed her father, Chand Mohd, 40, and a complaint was registered at the Keshavpuram police station,” a source said.
On Monday morning, a passerby found the boy’s body lying in an MCD park near SDM office in Keshavpuram with his throat slit and his wrists slashed. He made a call to the police control room. “There were injury marks all over his body and we suspect that the victim was sodomised before being put to death,” a senior police official said.
The police said the motive behind the murder is still unclear and they are questioning a number of bad characters, shopkeepers and security guards of the area to get some leads in the case.
“We are working on a number of angles to ascertain the motive behind the murder. No arrests have been made so far,” DCP (northwest) Meenu Chaudhary said. The body has been sent for post-mortem and the report is awaited.
