Misra new Delhi HC Chief Justice
Justice Dipak Misra was on Friday appointed as the new Chief Justice of Delhi high court. An official statement said that Justice Misra has been directed to assume his new responsibility on or before May 28.
Justice Misra (56) is at present the Chief Justice of Patna high court. Justice Madan B. Lokur has been officiating as the Chief Justice of the Delhi high court after Justice A.P. Shah retired on February 13 this year.
Born on October 3, 1953, Justice Dipak Misra enrolled as an advocate in February, 1977 and practised in Constitutional, civil, criminal, revenue, service and sales tax matters in the Orissa high court and the Service Tribunal.
Justice Dipak Misra was appointed additional judge of the Orissa high court in January, 1996.
He was transferred to the Madhya Pradesh high court in March, 1997 and became a permanent judge the same year in December.
The official statement added that the President has also, in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, transferred Justice Arvind Mohanlal Kapadia, judge of the Rajasthan high court, as a judge of the Gujarat high court. He has been directed to assume charge of his new office on or before May 28.
