Ministers, MLAs to get hiked salaries soon
While the common man is suffering due to high inflation in every sector, the MLAs and ministers in Delhi government are set to get their 100 per cent hiked salaries. The bill was passed in the monsoon session of the Delhi Assembly.
The Central government has confirmed and sent the file to the city government. Officials of the Delhi government confirmed that the bill is going through the last stage and a notification will be brought very soon.
“After being passed in the Delhi Assembly’s monsoon session, the file was sent to the Central government and the President of India for assent. The Central government has given the assent and the file has been sent to the Delhi government,” said a city government official.
The basic salary of an MLA in Delhi was `6,000, which has been revised to `12,000.
The basic salary of the ministers has been revised to `20,000 from `10,000. The MLAs will get a daily allowance of `1,000 and a house rent allowance of `20,000, which was earlier `10,000. Electoral area allowance has been hiked to `18,000, `10,000 more than earlier. Apart from this, the water, telephone, electricity and other allowance of the MLAs and ministers have been doubled. As a result, the MLA’s will get an additional amount of `42,000 per month that will raise their monthly earnings to `1 lakh. The ministers will get `60,000 additional, a hike in their monthly earnings to `1.5 lakhs.
