Metro makes ride to IGI swift, easier
The air passengers had a hassle-free, swift and smooth ride to Indira Gandhi International airport as the Delhi Metro Airport Express finally line became operational on Wednesday at 2 pm without much fanfare. “The Airport Express line has cut down on money and time. It’s a boon for air travellers,” said Vikas Kanda, a commuter.
The excitement of reaching the Airport in less than 20 minutes, which was unimaginable sometime back, could be seen on the faces of commuters on the high-speed train.
As the train stopped at the Airport Station, people got down and started proceeding towards the new swanky terminal.
The commuters had a fascinating view of the city’s landscape as the train climbed up from Shivaji Stadium and till it reached the Aero City Station.
On the way back from the airport, many foreigners could be seen using the line to come to the city’s hub at Connaught Place.
Till 8 pm, about 2,000 people had commuted on the new line.
