Metro feels pinch of tariff hike, seeks fare revision
Feeling the pinch of hike in electricity tariff, Delhi Metro has asked the urban development ministry to expeditiously form a committee for revision of its fares. The last hike in DMRC fares had taken place in November 2009, officials said.
In a letter to urban development secretary Sudhir Krishna, DMRC chief Mangu Singh has noted that from August 1, the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has hiked power tariff. He has said that the cost of other inputs has also been increasing which is affecting the financial situation of the Delhi Metro.
Officials said that this is the second time this year that Mr Singh has asked for a raise in fares.
