Metro erects 100 security pickets
Metro fortified its security ahead of the closing ceremony by erecting more than 100 security pickets inside and outside various Metro Stations across the capital.
The pickets or “morchas” are constructed inside the stations with sandbags and CISF is manning them. The CISF has deployed 2,000 additional men for the job at s
ensitive stations like Connaught Place, Central Secretariat, stations of Dwarka sub-city, Kashmere Gate among others. The Metro has over 140 stations across NCR.
The central security agencies, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and officials of the home ministry did a joint security audit for setting up the pickets.
“In view of the increasing rush at Metro stations due to Commonwealth Games, the security agencies decided to have these morchas with armed troops to foil possible attacks by terrorists,” a senior official said.
