Manesar villages condemn violence
Over ten villages around Maruti Suzuki India’s plant here on Saturday condemned violence at the factory in which one senior official was killed on Wednesday.
Heads of the villages, who met at Dhana village, said the guilty must be brought to book immediately while expressing support to the company.
“Existence of this plant is for the benefit of this region. Most of the surrounding villages of this plant are either directly or indirectly dependent on Maruti,” Dhana village Sarpanch Moolchand said.
Farukh Nagar Market Committee ex-chairman Maan Singh Yadav said: “We want industries to stay here and we will support by all means. We want the culprits to be punished.”
Expressing concerns over reports of Maruti Suzuki moving out of Manesar, Moolchand said: “We will not allow the company and the government to shift the plant out of Manesar.”
The company management has already denied that it was moving out of Manesar and said it was committed to the investments it had announced to be made in Haryana.
Heads of villages, including Alier, Dhana, Manesar, Kasan, Basskusla, Kank-rola, Bangrola, Kho, Pukharpur, Naharpur and Nawada took part in the meeting. They also went inside the plant to meet officials and policemen deployed there.
A maha panchayat is scheduled to be held on Monday at Dhana village to express solidarity with the company.
Meanwhile, joint commissioner of police, Gurgaon district, Anil Kumar said 800-1,000 policemen are still inside the plant.
“We are also giving protection to other sensitive locations. Our men are present at Suzuki Powertrain factory and Maruti’s Gurgaon plant,” Mr Kumar said. “The panchayat people met us and expressed solidarity with the company. They said they are with the administration in punishing the guilty,” he added. —PTI
