Man shot dead, kin accuse wife
A 40-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Karawal Nagar area of northeast Delhi.
A senior police official said that the family members of the deceased have alleged that he was shot dead at the behest of his wife by her friends.
The police said that the deceased was identified as Ashok, a resident of D Block in Mukund Vihar.
The deceased Ashok lived in the area with his wife Sonu, and his three children Abhishek, Ajay and Krishna.
“On Saturday night, Ashok was sleeping in his house. His children were sleeping in another room. At around 10.30 pm, someone knocked at his door. When his wife Sonu opened the door, two armed youth barged in and opened fire at Ashok while he was sleeping,” said the police official.
The assailants then fled from the spot. Ashok’s wife Sonu shouted for help and took him to GTB Hospital with the help of neighbours where he was declared brought dead.
The official said Ashok’s father Shiv Charan has alleged that Sonu hired goons to kill his son. Ashok’s brother Sunil also alleged that two accused youth often used to come to meet Sonu.
“We are interrogating Sonu on the basis of the allegations levelled by deceased Ashok’s family members against her. An FIR of murder has been lodged,” said the police official.
