Man killed for harassing newlywed
A 25-year-old man was kidnapped from here and murdered by the husband and brother of a newly-married woman for harassing her through phone calls and text messages, the police said on Saturday.
The two have been arrested. Rakesh, a property dealer in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, was allegedly stabbed to death July 11 and his body was dumped in a drain in Noida.
The body was recovered by Uttar Pradesh police the next day. The woman’s husband Deepak and brother Ramanand, both in their mid-20s, were arrested from Noida by the Delhi police on July 12.
Deepak’s wife lived in the same neighbourhood as Rakesh before her marriage three months back. After her marriage she started living in Noida.
The police said Rakesh had been sending objectionable messages on the cellphone of Deepak’s wife after her marriage.
Deepak and Ramanand drank liquor with Rakesh on July 11 in north Delhi’s Rohini and took him to Noida in his car and killed him, the police said.
Meanwhile, two persons, including a woman, were killed and as many injured in mishaps in Greater Noida, the police said on Saturday. Shabnam was killed and her husband Mohit seriously injured when their motorcycle was hit by a bus in Surajpur on Saturday. Shabnam died on the spot, while Mohit is stated to be in a critical state. In another mishap, an unidentified vehicle hit a motorcycle on the Expressway on Friday night, they said.
Two Delhi residents identified as Sunil and Gopal were injured in the accident. Sunil succumbed to injuries.
