Man helps cops arrest snatcher
A man travelling in a car chased two motorcycle-borne assailants who were fleeing after robbing a woman of her bag containing cash and valuables, and helped the police nab one of them by hitting their motorcycle from behind.
The incident has been reported from Mandawali area of East Delhi.
A senior police official said the accused caught during the chase has been identified as Kasim Hussain, a resident of Geeta Colony.
“Kasim and his accomplice Arjun used to snatch chains and rob in East Delhi. On Sunday evening, they attacked a woman, identified as Renu who was travelling in an autorickshaw near Akshardham and tried to snatch her bag. The woman resisted their attempt and saved herself the first time. Then the accused stopped their motorcycle, threatened the woman and snatched her bag,” said the police official.
The official said that one Bhupender, who was travelling in a car, saw the snatchers rob the woman and started chasing them. He chased the accused and hit their motorcycle from behind. The accused fell on the ground.
“One accused jumped in the canal and fled while his associate was nabbed by the PCR van staff,” said the police official.
The police recovered the snatched bag. An FIR was lodged at the Mandawali police station and a manhunt is on to nab the absconding accused.
