Man ends life after killing 2 daughters
A man, said to be mentally deranged, allegedly killed his two daughters, one of them seven-month-old, before killing himself by jumping before a train in neighbouring Ghaziabad. While the murders had come to light on Wednesday evening, his body was recovered on Thursday morning. The police said that the man was mentally not well and was being treated at a hospital in Delhi.
According to the Ghaziabad police, the incident came to light late on Wednesday evening when the bodies of two minor girls were found in a house under the Indirapuram police station area.
The girls were identified as Sanskriti, 4, and seven-month-old Muskan, daughters of Anil Kumar Rai. While Sanskriti’s body was found lying in a bath-tub, Muskan was drowned in a bucket of water.
The murders had come to light when Shiv Kumar, father of Anil, came home looking for granddaughters. Subsequently, he informed Meera, wife of Anil, who works as a security guard at Pacific Mall. Meera told the police that her husband could have carried out the heinous act as he was mentally ill.
The police and the family looked for Anil through the night. Finally, his body was recovered from the tracks near Sahibabad railway station. No suicide note has been recovered.
Preliminary investigations revealed that 28-year-old Anil, a native of Ballia in eastern Uttar Pradesh, was mentally unsound for the past many years and did not have any source of income. His wife used to run the family.
The couple had got married in 1995. No case has been registered yet by the police and further investigations are on.
