Man arrested for gunrunning, countrymade pistols seized

The police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a man allegedly involved in supply of illegal arms and ammunition.
The accused, identified as Gaffar Ali, alias Ali, was arrested from GT Karnal Road when he was travelling in a tempo. Three countrymade pistols and live cartridges were recovered from him.

“A trap was laid at Khera Mor, GT Karnal Road and a tempo was stopped at the instance of the informer. The tempo was meant to supply grocery items. During search of the driver, who was later identified as Ali, two countrymade pistols of 315 bore, and live cartridges were recovered,” said a senior police official. Ali revealed that he used to procure the countrymade weapons from Moradabad.
