Man arrested in dawood aide murder case
The crime branch arrested one Rishi Gupta, a resident of Mandawali, in connection with the murder of Khalil Ahmed, an alleged aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
The police recovered two pistols, including a countrymade, and four live cartridges from his possession.
“Khalil was shot on May 29. A team of crime branch got a tip-off that Rishi Gupta, a friend of Mobin who plotted to kill Khalil, would come near Shahdara Metro Station. The police laid a trap and arrested him,” said the police official.
Gupta told the police that Mobin Sabbir was an associate of Khalil Ahmed. He became familiar to them in Tihar Jail. They were extorting money from builders and businessmen.
However, later on Khalil and Mobin became enemies and stared working separately. Mobin wanted to eliminate Khalil and hatched a conspiracy. “They tried to kill Khalil two-three times earlier but did not get opportunity to execute their plan. Gupta then borrowed an SUV from his friend Israil. They went to Khalil’s office in the SUV. Mobin and two accused went to shoot Khalil while Gupta waited in the SUV,” said the police.
They fled to Etah and then Agra after the murder.
The official said Gupta was planning to go to Agra to meet Mobin since he wanted to eliminate his enemy Shiv Shankar, a resident of Firozabad. Mobin was supposed to help him in the murder. However, he was nabbed before executing the plan.
