Man accused of killing son acquitted for lack of proof
A city court acquitted a man despite his alleged admission of strangling his 4-year-old son due to financial crisis before the Delhi police, pointing out the failure of the police to link the circumstantial evidence.
Additional sessions judge Vijay Kumar Dahiya acquitted Rakesh Kumar, who was accused of strangling his son to death, in absence of any motive and circumstantial evidence in a clear-cut case: as the Delhi police claimed that the accused confessed before his wife and father-in-law of killing his son.
“As such prosecution has failed to prove even a single link in the chain of circumstantial evidence and there is no evidence to connect the accused with the alleged offence,” said additional sessions judge Dahiya.
According to the police, Kumar and his wife filed a missing complaint of their son. The very next day, the police was informed about a body of a minor boy, which was identified by the couple.
The police said that Kumar had confessed of killing his son before his wife and father-in-law. The police claimed that Kumar also sought punishment for his crime.
Kumar further said he wanted to commit suicide but due to the presence of his family members, he could not do so, the police added.
