Man abducted from Noida released
The senior executive of a private company, who was kidnapped in Noida on Thursday, has returned home safely. Police officers said that the family did not cooperate with them but they were working on leads to identify and arrest the kidnappers.
According to the Noida police, Saurabh Jain, a senior executive working with a company manufacturing CFL bulbs, returned home around 2 am on Saturday. He was released by the kidnappers somewhere along the Muzaffarnagar-Meerut border. A senior Noida police official said that Jain was found unconscious at a place near Modi Nagar and was rescued by his family members, who brought him home. The official added that a team was following the movements of the victim’s family members, who had gone to pay the ransom. However, the kidnappers got a whiff of it and called up the family saying they would kill their captive. They then got in touch with the police following which the team abandoned its chase as it would have jeopardised the victim’s life.
However, Saurabh Jain, whose family has heaved a sigh of relief, has not told the police anything about the sequence of events. The police had on Friday said that the family was not cooperating in probe.
Jain, a resident of Sector-41 in Noida, had been kidnapped on Thursday evening. In the meantime, the kidnappers had called up his family reportedly demanding `1 crore in ransom. The police said that while it was clear that a hefty amount was paid, the exact sum could be ascertained only if the victim spoke about it.
Police sources said that in all probability ransom of around `25 lakhs was paid. The police is hoping that Jain may talk to them and give more information once he recovers from the trauma.
A case has been registered in this connection and further investigations are on.
