Man, 74, charred in GK, widow alleges murder
A 74-year-old man was charred to death after a fire broke out in a house in Greater Kailash area of south Delhi.
The incident took place in M Block on Thursday night. A senior police official said the deceased was identified as Kapil Dev Aryan. He was living as a tenant along with his wife for past several years.
“Kapil was living on the second floor of the house. Earlier, he ran a shop in Hauz Khas. His wife had gone out and he was alone on Thursday night when a fire broke out in his room. Fire tenders were called but by the time the firemen extinguished the fire, Kapil had died. His charred body was found in his room,” said the police official.
Fire officials said they got a call from the police at around 9.35 pm and two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The police said Kapil was living in a disputed property.
Two persons were claiming to be the owner of the house in which he lived. Kapil’s electricity connection had also been disconnected due to the property dispute.
The widow of the deceased has alleged that he was killed because of the property dispute. The body has been sent to AIIMS for the post-mortem. “We will lodge an FIR after getting the autopsy report. Only autopsy report can reveal the exact reason of his death,” said the police official.
