Light rains, strong wind cool city
The sudden appearance of clouds accompanied by strong winds in the afternoon brought respite from scorching heat on Thursday. Thundershowers and rains are expected on Friday, the weatherman said.
Traces of light rains were reported from some localities as clouds enveloped the blazing sun. The maximum temperature was recorded at 40.1 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season but nearly two degrees down from Wednesday’s high of 41.8º Celsius.
The minimum settled at 27.4º Celsius, which was also on the normal range. The humidity level ranged from 36 per cent to 57 per cent, a Met official said.
The weatherman has predicted a partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain and thundershowers on Friday. Thunder squall is also likely in some areas.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 38 and 26º Celsius, respectively. After last weekend rains brought down the soaring temperature, heat was back in the city for the last couple of days.
