Kin allege foul play as couple goes missing
Two days after three suspects were arrested in Ashok Vihar “honour” killing case, a couple belonging to different communities has gone missing from the area with their parents charging each other with abduction and murder of the victims.
The police officials said Yogendra, 21, and Suyara, 20, both residents of Wazirpur village in the Ashok Vihar area, have been reported missing from June 17. While a case of missing has been registered at Ashok Vihar and Jehangirpuri police stations respectively, the family members of the victims have charged each other for abducting the victims.
“Yogendra has been held hostage by Suraya parents. They had tried to kill him earlier too. I went up to the police station but no one is paying any attention to the matter. We are suspecting that our son has been murdered,” Yogendra’s mother Munni said.
Meanwhile, Suraya’s family members have told the police that their daughter has been abducted by her neighbour, Yogendra. “Her family members too are alleging that Yogendra’s parents are behind the abduction of their daughter. We are suspecting that the couple has eloped against their family wishes,” a source said.
The police said Yogendra earns his living by applying mehndi and selling ornamental jewellery in a market in north Delhi. “We have questioned the family members of both the victims. So far, we have not been successful to track down the couple and the matter is under investigation,” a senior Delhi police official said.
