Kidnappers seek `1 crore ransom
An industrialist was kidnapped from neighbouring Noida with reports that the abductors had called to demand `1 crore in ransom. The police, however, said that the businessman’s family was not cooperating with it, as a result of which its task was getting difficult.
According to the Noida police, the incident came to light when the police managed to track down a call in which the callers demanded `1 crore in ransom to release the abducted industrialist.
However, the family of the victim apparently was not interested in keeping the police in the loop and is probably trying to fix a deal with the kidnappers.
The police said the abducted industrialist deals in electrical appliances, while his wife runs a printing press in Noida.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim was on his way in his car with some business-related work when the kidnappers abducted him.
His car was later recovered from Ghaziabad.
However, police officers said that they were going ahead with investigations and were trying to trace the kidnappers. The victim is a promoter of two companies in Greater Noida and one company in Noida engaged in manufacturing electrical appliances and garments. The kidnappers made the ransom call from the victim’s mobile phone, which was tapped by the police.
