Kazmi opposes plea for release of damaged car
Israeli diplomat’s car attack case accused Syed Mohammed Ahmed Kazmi, arrested for his alleged role in the February 13 Israeli car bombing case has opposed the car owner’s plea to release the damaged vehicle for procedure to claim insurance for the losses claiming he is being subjected to the “game of chess.”
Appearing before chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav, Kazmi’s counsel Mehmood Pracha claimed that the application for the release of the car has surprised his client because if the permission is granted by the court, it would amount to “tampering of a vital evidence.”
“The case is of international ramification and if permission is granted to the surveyor of insurance company to inspect the car, it would amount to tampering of a vital evidence,” said Kazmi’s counsel.
He further said that this submission before the court is “to protect the vehicle from being tampered.”
By kindly requesting the judge to “set up terms and condition” to find the truth, Kazmi’s counsel said “the case is also of national importance and the cost of the car would be less than national interest.”
Whereas, Alon Yehoshua’s counsel contended that “our purpose is only to claim the insurance” and it does not matter if the survey is done in the presence of the police or video surveillance.

Jolly plea in cm’s poll code breach case turned down
AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI, APRIL 19
The trial court has dismissed BJP leader Vijay Jolly’s plea against city police decision to withdraw a 2008 poll code violation case against chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday.
Metropolitan magistrate Vijeta Singh rejected Jolly’s plea to be allowed to intervene in the court proceeding and oppose the police application. Jolly had made the plea saying he had been directly affected in the matter as he had lost the 2008 Assembly polls against Ms Dikshit.
The magistrate dismissed his plea saying, “the applicant (Jolly) has failed to satisfy the court in regard of his locus standi (to intervene).”
The court also said it would decide later whether the plea for withdrawal of case against Ms Dikshit is as per the law.
The court has now listed the matter for further arguments on April 28.
