Kashmiris pandits demand rehab
The migrant Kashmiri pandits, residing in Jammu, staged a protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the status of Internally Displaced Persons. The protest marked the World Refugee Day and aimed at focusing on the plight of refugees in Jammu.
Arguing that the IDPs status will get international grants for the migrant Kashmiris, an activist from the organisation called Roots in Kashmir, Rashneek Kher, said, “It is ironical that the Tamils in Sri Lanka have got IDPs status, refugees from Waziristan have got refugee status in Pakistan, same goes for refugees of Albania, Serbia and Iraq then why the Kashmirirs are not given this status?”
Hundreds of Kashmiri pundits in their traditional white attire, signifying the death of a community, held placards depicting the condition of the homeless minority community.
