JNU girl on ventilator, but stable
Roshni Gupta, the 22-year-old JNU student who was allegedly attacked by her male friend in the classroom, is battling for life at the Safdarjung Hospital here. However, the victim is “stable”, said sources.
The victim is on ventilator. Although her condition is critical, she is showing signs of recovery. She is being constantly monitored, sources said.
Roshni was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition on Wednesday.
Dr K.B. Shankar, assistant professor, neurosurgery, and a team of doctors performed a second brain surgery upon her late night on Wednesday to remove the blood clots, hospital sources said.
“We are trying to clear and reduce the infection in her body caused due to the axe assault,” said a doctor.
Doctors are keeping the JNU student under observation for 48 hours after which they shall decide whether a third operation is required or not.
A friend of the victim said that doctors have informed that when they called out her name, she responded well and also recognised her parents.
According to doctors, Roshni had suffered severe head injury with depressed fracture.
