Jewellery bag stolen from Metro station scanner

A bag containing gold jewellery worth `55 lakhs was stolen from the scanner machine at the Chandni Chowk Metro Station on Tuesday.
A senior police official said the accused who lifted the bag has been captured in the CCTV footage of the Metro Station. In the footage, he is seen lifting the bag from the exit side of the machine.
The police official said they got a call in this respect from one Ravinder Soni.
He told the police that he came from Haryana to buy gold jewellery from Delhi.
Ravinder Soni entered the Chandni Chowk Metro Station and was being frisked at the time of the incident.
“He said he came to Delhi and purchased gold jewelry from Katra Nawab area. He reached the Chandni Chowk Metro Station on Wednesday at around 6 pm. He bought a token to go to the Kashmere Gate Metro Station from where he planned to take a bus. He was carrying two bags, a laptop bag and another containing gold. He placed the bags on the conveyer belt of the machine and stepped into the door-framed metal detector to get frisked, meanwhile the bag was stolen,” said the police.
He immediately asked the CISF personnel about the bag and asked them to examine the CCTV footage. The accused who lifted the bag had left the metro station by then.
The police was trying to identify the accused with the help of CCTV footage.
An FIR in this respect was lodged at the Kashmere Gate Metro Police Station.
Meanwhile, a Delhi resident was killed and another injured when their car hit a divider on the Yamuna Expressway, the police said.
Ashish and Usman, both residents of Tughlakabad in Delhi, were on way back from Agra when their vehicle hit the divider near Jewar toll plaza Tuesday night, the police official said.
Ashish died on the spot, the police said, adding Usman was admitted to a hospital here in a critical condition.
