Jeweller shot dead
Three unidentified men shot dead a jeweller and escaped with jewellery and cash worth lakhs of rupees. The incident took place at the Lal Quarter Market in Krishna Nagar, east Delhi. The deceased, Gaurav Gambhir, 30, died on the spot, said the police.
The victim was in his shop with two salesmen when a motorcycle stopped outside. “Three men went inside the showroom. One assailant put a pistol on Gambhir’s head and threatened him, while the others started collecting jewellery in a bag,” said the police. When he resisted, the assailant opened fire. Gambhir was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Meanwhile, a cyclist Nigam Singh, 45, was crushed to death by a speeding car in near the Anand Vihar flyover around 9 am. on Wednesday. The car driver was arrested.
In another fatal incident in the city, two Burmese youth, Van Lakuk, 16, and Lacuk Bik, 25, were crushed to death by an unidentified vehicle on Tuesday night near Tivoli grounds in Alipur. The two worked as labourers.
