'Infrastructure by govt for Games is OK'
The Planning Commission on Wednesday refused to be drawn into the controversy surrounding the Commonwealth Games infrastructure developed in the capital. Deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, on Wednesday said that the plan panel members were satisfied with the infrastructure
developed for Games in the city. Mr Ahluwalia met chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday and finalised an annual plan of `15,133 crores for Delhi for 2011-12.
In reply to a question if the Planning Commission was happy with the way the money given to the Delhi government for Games was spent, Mr Ahluwalia said that the plan panel members were satisfied with the kind of infrastructure brought up.
Mr Ahuwalia further said: “All the members were of the view that quite good infrastructure has been developed (by the Delhi government).”
Sources said the issue of alleged irregularities in certain CWG projects did not figure in the meeting.
