Indonesian held with drugs worth `17 crores at IGI
An Indonesian allegedly trying to smuggle narcotics worth about `17 crores out of India was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here, officials said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Rahman Sinaga, was intercepted by customs officials at the departure hall on Sunday.
When he was interrogated and searched, he was found to be carrying amphetamine, a substance banned under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, the officials said.
The seized narcotics, in the form of crystal powder, weighed about 2.9 kg and is valued `16.82 crores in the international market, they said. A case was registered against Sinaga under the NDPS Act and further investigation was on. Sinaga was going to Malaysia from here, they said.

Woman ‘hangs self’ in s. delhi

A 20-year-old student of a private reputed computer institute allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling at her house in Sarojini Nagar area on Sunday.
A senior police official said that the deceased was identified as Khushboo, a resident of Netaji Nagar in Sarojini Nagar area. Her father R.N. Mahto works at the ESIC Hospital in Mumbai. The police got a call of the incident at around 4.30 pm.
The official said that Khushboo was suffering from TB and dengue and was in depression due to her illness. On Sunday evening, she took the extreme step when she was alone. “No suicide note was recovered from her possession. Her body was handed over to her family members after the post-mortem,” said the police.

Driver held for stealing `5 lakhs
New Delhi, Jan. 28: A driver was arrested for allegedly stealing `5 lakhs from his employer, the police said on Monday. Vipin Kumar, 25, was apprehended based on a complaint filed by one P.D. Gupta that his driver had stolen `5 lakhs from him.
Acting on specific information, the police raided Madhuban Chowk in northwest Delhi and arrested Vipin Kumar last week.
“A bag containing certain documents and `4.80 lakhs were recovered from his possession,” a senior police official said. — PTI
