HC quashes FIR against Dhoundial
Giving relief to the IPS officer, Nirmal Dhoundial, accused of cheating 87-year-old former Delhi University professor Lotika Sarkar, Justice Shiv Narayan Dhingra of the Delhi high court on Thursday quashed the FIR lodged against him.
The HC allowed the plea of Mr Dhoundial after hearing that the house has been restored to Lotika Sarkar and consequently nothing remained in the FIR.
Seeking quashing of criminal proceedings, Dhoundial said the deed by which the house was gifted by Lotika had been cancelled in 2009 by the HC and the property has been handed back to her.
The lawyer of Dhoundial said that the cop’s family has always treated Lotika with “utmost care and affection” and was never interested in the property as alleged.
The court passed the order following a mutual agreement between Lotika and Dhoundial.
It had also asked the police to open the seal of the house to permit Lotika to take back possession.
The matter had reached the HC after Dhoundial challenged a tribunal court order which asked Lotika to stay in her house and directed the police to evict the Dhoundials.
